Petrol Liar, Manchester, 2001

2007 - 2009

One of five books included in the first edition of Fair Use (notes from spam)

Petrol Liar describes an encounter with a con artist on a street corner in turn of the millenium Manchester. The book is heavily footnoted with details of physical, economic and social forces at play on the particular street corner the con is played out on - framed by a wider history of the city as a whole and a focus on its experience of the transition from an industrial base to a post-industrial city in a digital era.
